a hummingbird hovering mid-air flaps its wings 20-100 times a second? Also, hummingbirds are the only birdspecies able to fly backwards. Because of this, a hummingbird must consume almost 1/2 of it’s weight in sugar daily, and the average hummingbird feeds 5-8 times per hour.
The bee-hummingbird (Mellisuga Helenae) is the smallest bird on earth. But despite their small size, they are very aggressive and defend their territory from other animals much bigger than them!
